Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Distance Education, formerly Andhra Pradesh Open University, is a public institution in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The university has multi-campus and unitary, having research, postgraduate, and undergraduate programs in the social sciences and humanities.  

The foundation of this University, the first of its type in India, began a new era of affirmative action on the part of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to provide higher education opportunities to all segments of society to fulfill evolving individual and social requirements. The Government of the National Capital Region of Delhi founded Dr. BR Ambedkar University Distance Education Delhi through an Act of Legislative in 2007 and it was notified in July 2008. 

It is mandated to focus on research and teaching in the social sciences and humanities, and it is guided by Dr. Ambedkar's vision of bridging equality and social justice with excellence. The Open University offers courses in a wide range of subjects, including trade, education, hospitality, and tourism. The university does not offer regular classes. Distance learning is available for all of the courses. Students who meet the prerequisites can enroll in BAOU courses. The criteria for UG and PG programs are a 10+2 from a recognized board and an undergraduate degree from a recognized university, respectively. Each course has a different amount of available seats.

MOUs have been signed with BAOU Ahmadabad by Vardhman Mahaveer Open University in Kota, Rajasthan, Astrakhan State University in Astrakhan, Russia, and Vidyamandir Trust. MBA Course Structure and Specialization 

DR BR Ambedkar University Distance Education offers a two-year program with a maximum extension of up to four years to complete. English is used for both teaching and responding. It is divided into four semesters, with the final semester featuring a totally updated course that includes project work and a viva presentation, as well as a choice of one specialization field from Finance, Marketing, and Human Resource Management. There will be four examinations after the end of each semester, and even if a candidate fails or is unable to appear in an exam, he or she can still continue with this course by paying tuition for Year 2.

• The University admits candidates to the MBA program based on their performance in the ICET (Integrated Common Entrance Exam for MBA & MCA), which is held in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
• Only recent graduates and in-service candidates are eligible for the DR BR Ambedkar Distance Education MBA Program. Fresh graduates receive 50% of the total seats allowed at each study center, with the remaining 50% reserved for in-service candidates.
• Candidates must have completed a recognized Bachelor's Degree Examination of at least three years duration with at least 50% (45% in the case of restricted categories) in the qualifying examination.
